Freshly roasted pork & fragrantly brewed coffee? A formidable partnership that forms the foundation of this new cafe.
W Cafe is passionate about pork, whipping up the likes of minced pork shepherd’s pie & bacon fried rice or carbonara pasta most of the time. But for the ideal itinerary, head here on Friday, Saturday or Sunday – on those three days, starting from about 11am, the cafe’s own-roasted Oriental ‘siu yuk’ is also available, in regular & stir-fried recipes (RM26.90 for a plate of both with a cup of coffee). Respectable renditions – meaty & tender, with the requisite brittleness of skin & full-bodied flavour of flesh.
Western-style roast pork belly is another weekend special, sandwiched with sambal & mustard in a crispy charcoal croissant for the ‘Black Pig’ (RM21.90 with coffee) – quite the indulgence; your waistline won’t thank you for it, but your taste buds may.
And of course, bacon – splattered with cornflakes, ripely mellow bananas & peanut butter on toast for an irresistible-looking temptation that’s sugary & savoury, juicy & crunchy. RM15.90. If you haven’t realised it by now, dieters should skip W Cafe.
For the coffee seeker, beans are from Bandar Sri Damansara’s BEAM; current stocks comprise Costa Rica Jaguar & Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Konga. Green tea lattes are offered too, but our best bet is this SoCo (RM18.90) – coffee with Southern Comfort.
