The Balls delivers precisely what its name promises: Takoyaki, the sphere-shaped Japanese snack that can be spotted locally in some Malaysian malls. It’s worth noting that the The Balls’ “Monster Balls” try to be a premium type of takoyaki: Each ball of creamy batter, freshly cooked & served warm, is packed with a choice of either salmon trout or an entire diced baby octopus – the former’s more flavoursome; the latter supplies a more engaging texture. Six sizeable balls, brushed with bonito flakes & mayo in dashi, cost RM22 – pricier than the norm, but The Balls’ founders Eddy & Ching Huei do a respectable job of providing customers with genuinely good-quality ingredients.
