After literally a full year of anticipation, delays in openings, and even more anticipation, Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill Kuala Lumpur finally and officially opened on June 18, 2022! Sporting the iconic British celebrity infamous for his explosive demeanor but praised for his standard in culinary arts, this restaurant is the first of its name outside the United Kingdom, and the inaugural restaurant in Malaysia.

To say that this place is posh is a slight understatement. From plush furnishings of rich red and deep green accentuated by polished walnut hardwood flooring, brass finishes, and 24-karat gold leaf hand-placed ceilings, dressing up to visit is a must. Should you want to impress company even more, luxurious private dining spaces named after cosmopolitan districts Mayfair, Soho, and Chelsea are available. Combined with monochrome photographs of celebrities from celebrated photographers Terry O’Neill and Arthur Steel, this dining experience is worth the wait for that glam moment.

And of course, the kitchen is made up of Gordon Ramsay-trained alumni, and the menu sports inspiration from one of London’s most iconic restaurants – the Savoy Grill.

Featuring freshly flown in weekly Japanese oysters, Boston lobster, Australian prawns, 42-hour citrus-cured salmon, king crab legs, and scallop ceviche – this is definitely a world-rounding trip to wake up your appetite.

Should you wish to jump straight into the starters, the Citrus-cured Salmon also hits your taste buds with the absolute freshness. Paired with dollops of smoked yoghurt, kohlrabi shreds, and salmon roe garnishing complete with a tang of pomegranate seeds, we would advise you to take your time savouring this plate instead of practically inhaling it for its deliciousness!

Arnold Bennet Twice-baked Soufflé

The popular Arnold Bennet Twice-baked Soufflé is a heightened richer experience, having a composition of smoked haddock, aged cheddar sauce, and a fine herb salad on the side to buffer. Some may find it a tad salty, so go easy on the sauce. We might also mention that the serving size is generous, so pace yourself.

For mains, a choice of Dover Sole Grenobloise dressed with capers sauce, soft herbs, croutons, and beurre noisette (brown butter glaze for layman terms) would be best for light eaters, or for those who filled up on the starters. Crisp and light, the sole fish is soft to the mouth with a nutty hint from the glaze.

On the other hand, the star of the show, the Classic Beef Wellington! A Gordon Ramsay signature of his entire career, this is the highlight of dining at the Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill. Already an experience to behold, logs of the steak wrapped in pastry are rolled out to almost every table on a swanky cart with sides of creamy pomme purée, a fine salad, and red wine jus dressing waiting. The serving of the Classic Beef Wellington is a sight indeed, as a host will explain the curation of this piece of art and the craft of meat while slicing into the log. Medium-rare tenderness surrounded by crisp flakey pastry, each plate is truly a testament of quality to this establishment.

64% Manjari Chocolate Tart

Ending with dessert, a simplistic wedge of 64% Manjari Chocolate Tart with a large honeycomb for fun, sticky eating, with yogurt sorbet and extra virgin olive oil drizzle provides a fitting closure to such a lush, rich meal. The bitterness of the chocolate will appeal after all that luxurious mouth experiences, as well as the tart hint from the yogurt blanketing the stomach for an easy digestive moment after.

Should you wish to go for the absolute British experience, a traditional Sunday Roast menu with all the trimmings is available on Sundays.
