Review: WIP on the Park
April 28th, 2025
Our first yee sang of 2016 has proven to be a satisfying one, auguring well for the Lunar New Year celebrations ahead – Manmaru combines elements from Chinese & Japanese inspirations to create a memorably flavoursome festive favourite.
A hearty yee sang platter for two to four persons clocks in at a very reasonable RM48 nett with six slices of salmon sashimi, while an even bigger portion with 12 slices of salmon for six to eight patrons is RM88. You can choose to add on six pieces of salmon for RM25, six pieces of hamachi for RM38, or for a shot of luxury, abalone cooked in a hot-water vessel for RM88.
Tossed at the table, Manmaru’s yee sang showcases all the invigoratingly intricate complexities in tastes & textures that we could hope for – a fresh crunch from vegetables & nuts, the full-bodied succulence of seafood, & tangy, well-balanced bursts from the fruits & sauces.
Bonus: The restaurant’s also-elaborate cocktails pair pretty well with the yee sang, particularly the Smoked Plum & Peach Galaxy & the Sake-Vodka Spring Peach concoctions. Many thanks to Manmaru for having us back.
