Promising warm meals, fresh pastries & strong coffee, this is a friendly retreat tucked in PJ’s Section 13 commercial enclave.
Seeds & Wheats is helmed mainly by the founders of two other popular PJ cafes – Touche in Section 17 & Caffeinated Cabin on Jalan Gasing – together with some new collaborators. There’s a common thread that binds these three eateries: Baked goodies galore – visitors to Seeds & Wheats will be greeted by an alluring array that spans peach danishes to pain au chocolat, caramel nut puffs to apple cinnamon raisin crumbles, mostly costing between RM4.20 & RM7.80.
Our favourite temptations here might be Seeds & Wheats’ own-made croissants – we prefer the unique banana croissant (RM6.80), enhanced with a soft, sweet slice of ripe fruit, over the lemon citron croissant. Traditional egg tarts (RM4.80) are available, but for folks who like creamy desserts, the best bets may be the mango eclair & ‘triplet’ custard choux puffs.
If you’re looking for a nourishing lunch, Seeds & Wheats serves that too – the Western all-day brunch selection (8am-6:30pm) includes a hearty beef bacon & egg bagel with a side salad (RM14.90), but keep an eye out as well for daily-changing bento sets (12pm onwards) with a look-East influence that might include chicken & steamed rice with tofu & tangy Asian salad (RM14.90). A complete range of coffee is offered (a hot piccolo latte is RM8; a flat white is RM11), as are various juices (our pick – the refreshing pineapple kiwi for RM13.90). Many thanks to Seeds & Wheats for hosting us for this pleasant late lunch.
