Review: WIP on the Park
April 28th, 2025
Returning to Porcelene for Round Two. (Earlier visit on Oct 11 2013.)
Update: Porcelene is now known as Novi Jazz
Beefing up this entry with Porcelene’s interpretation of ‘sup gearbox’ (RM19++), bristling with all manner of bovine cuts and components.
Terrified of tripe? Skip this then. Still, for some of us, this ‘soup for the soul,’ as the menu calls it, might be the best thing for a rainy night.
Porcelene’s ‘Black on Black’ burger (RM32++) is a big one, boasting a Black Angus beef patty in a toasted charcoal bun with onion rings and cross trax fries.
Not bad; maybe we won’t recall what it tastes like in ten months, but we enjoyed it well enough.
More memorable: Porcelene’s paella, prettily presented. RM58++, sufficient for two or three.
The platter smells seductively of saffron, with Spanish rice simmered in beef broth & adorned with spicy beef brisket and chicken sausages.
The grains might be mushier than we’d prefer, but did we still finish every bite? Definitely.
Wrap up with coffee cocktails that include the likes of Illy coffee with frangelico, chocolate and whipped cream or with Bailey’s and milk.
Coffee, Sailor Jerry rum, kahlua and whipped cream.
