Learning to fly this month at Mont Kiara, Blackbird evolves from cafe to bistro and bar as the hours progress, showcasing a menu with both Australian and Asian accents.

Brunch

Our top order is a brunch lover’s ensemble of tenderly roasted pumpkin, poached egg, pork bacon and hollandaise sauce on sourdough toast – lots of our favourite things on one plate, all nicely done, complementing each other well (RM15).

Main

For breakfast and lunch, you can also take an Eastern slant with flavoursome Thai-inspired porridge filled with textured house-made pork meatballs, bolstered by fried garlic, coriander, spring onions, chillies and vinegar, for a hot and soothing meal (RM12).

Daily temptations

Other daylight temptations (served 730am through 3pm) include hearty rice bowls, blanketed with possibilities like torched salmon with Japanese mayo, unagi sauce and egg (RM18) or confit duck breast with egg (RM15).

Dinnertime focuses on meaty mains; The crispy pork belly with assorted dips (RM16) banks heavily on the fat; other options include pork chops, beef steaks and braised lamb shoulder, good to go with a house pour (RM98 a bottle for the Shiraz). Service is friendly and obliging.
