Review: WIP on the Park

Antlers away: Another American chain lands in Malaysia, this one with a Texan theme to complement its steak specialities.
Longhorn’s menu hits the essentials – rib-eye, sirloin, tenderloin, porterhouse & strip steaks – with various weight options starting from 170 grams, at prices ranging from RM59.90 for a sirloin to RM169.90 for a porterhouse. The restaurant describes its beef as “aged & hand-trimmed to exacting specifications, boldly seasoned & expertly grilled.”
We had an interesting 225-gram tenderloin stuffed with cheddar & beef bacon (RM109.90), then topped with a parmesan crust (RM8.90 surcharge). The meat proved satisfactory, though purists may shudder at how we smothered everything with cheese.
Each steak comes with either a huge whole baked sweet potato (our pick) or russet potato, plus steamed broccoli, sauces (including some tangy & surprisingly spicy ones), & unlimited servings of Longhorn’s Honey Wheat bread (respectable buns).
The rest of the menu ranges from crispy onion petals to lamb chops & burgers, grilled shrimp to lobster tails (note that Longhorn Steakhouse has affiliations with Red Lobster in KL), apple pies to cheesecakes, washed down with wine, which is on a separate menu that isn’t handed to customers unless requested.
