Set in one of KL’s newest hotels, Grill 582 is the place to come for prime cuts of meat, fresh-from-the-ocean seafood, and some delectable desserts. Tucked in the Best Western Premier (Dua Sentral), this fairly new restaurant serves up the goods in a classy, modern setting. The dimly lit interior, minimalistic design and polished tile and hardwood floors add a suave, almost 007-like touch to the beautifully presented dishes.


Pan-Seared Scallops

We walked into the dining area, armed with glasses of red wine (Lamole di Lamole Chianti Clasico) and were seated at a table with an all-encompassing view of the open kitchen. Chef Arini serves up a selection of fine dishes, and after much deliberation, we settle on a variety of choices. First up were the succulent Pan-seared Scallops in tomato, mango, and chilli salsa, a combination I quite enjoyed. Similarly, the Pan-fried Foie Gras on toasted bread, went perfectly with the purée of cranberries and crème fraiche it was served with.


The Steak

As its name suggests, Grill 582 is of course, known for its grilled meats selection, and if you order some steak, you’ll get to pick out your very own unique steak knife! I chose a bold, red one and dug into Chef Arini’s signature Black Angus Beef, served with crunchy, chunky chips and broccoli with almond butter, and enjoyed every mouthful of the decadent dish. Grilled to perfection, this one is for all the meat lovers out there. Not to be outdone, the next course of Roasted Rump of Lamb with a delicious ratatouille and roasted potato proved its inclusion in the “Grill Hall of Fame.”


Pan Fried Ocean Trout

Being a seafood lover, my own favourite came in the form of the Pan Fried Ocean Trout. Served with a fresh Orange Salad and Citrus Hollandaise Sauce, the generous portion of fish boasted perfectly crisp skin, and a flaky interior that melted in your mouth. An outstanding choice, if there ever was one!


A Trio of Bite Sized Decadence

After all that indulgence, we cleverly managed to save space for dessert and it lived up to all expectations. A trio of bite sized decadence arrived, each looking just as appealing as the next. We all agreed that the Toffee Crème Brûlée with Maldon Sea Salt was just heavenly, followed closely by the dark and rich Chilled Chocolate Chiboust with candyfloss berries, and the lighter, creamier Cheese Cake bonbon. Combined with a delightful glass of white wine (Dr Loosen Riesling Qualitatswein), these little goodies were definitely the perfect way to end a glorious meal.

The great part about being in a hotel is the proximity to other F&B outlets within the area, and Grill 582 is no exception to this. Once you’ve had your meat fill, pop over to the swanky Pump Bar & Lounge next door for a relaxing, after dinner coffee – you won’t be disappointed.
