Wholesome meals delivered for free within 30 to 45 minutes of ordering – Epic Fit Meals Co strives to prove that healthy recipes which emphasise fresh ingredients, balanced nutrition & moderate portions can be convenient, creative & tasty.
Epic’s founders worked for months on their creations, ensuring that practically everything here is worth sampling. We like the artisan wraps (RM12.80 each), handmade to order with hearty fillings & sauces prepared from scratch by Epic’s kitchen. There’s a globe-trotting flair to the menu – go Greek with the souvlaki-inspired ‘Hercules’ (333 kcal; grilled chicken fillet, veggies & a perky Mediterranean yoghurt-based sauce tinged with dill, lemon & garlic) or Tex-Mex with ‘Beefy Buffy’ (301 kcal; pulled beef, pico de gallo, cilantro lime rice & lettuce); there are also Thai, vegetarian & various other options available.
For power-packed protein, Epic serves chicken in customisable preparations – have it either oven-baked & breaded to a crunchy juiciness (RM13.80) or flame-grilled to a lean tenderness with herbs & spices (RM12.80), then choose from one of Epic’s seven intriguing sauces, which include a fiery Malaysian sambal-inspired S.O.S. sauce to jump-start the metabolism, a more mellow Japanese-influenced curry, plus Epic’s own unique interpretations of barbecue sauce, apple salsa or tzatziki.
Side dishes can be added on the chicken for an extra RM3 for two basic sides or one premium; alternatively, they can be ordered a la carte in larger servings for RM4.80-RM5.80. Our best bet is the crunchy & flavoursome cauliflower rice (134kcal), though there are heaps of other imaginative choices for carbs (an Irish-inflected colcannon of mashed potatoes with cabbage & leek, or thick & creamy mashed sweet potatoes, or brown rice with oats) & fibre with tantalising twists (stir-fried greens with garlic confit, or a coleslaw of red & white cabbage, carrots & onions in yoghurt-based dressing).
Epic even does crisp thin-crust pizzas with noticeably less oil & salt than the norm, relying instead on its ingredients & seasoning to maintain flavour. Highlights include the Shrimpy Affair (only 489 kcal, showcasing prawns, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes & parsley) & the Triple A of Ayam, Apple & Api (545 kcal; minced chicken, apples & spicy sauce). All the food is dispatched in specially designed bags that’ll keep them warm; note that customers can also eat in or take away at the outlet.
Blended juices are showcased as well, with ingredients like red apples, pears, cucumber, ginger & celery – textured beverages with no added sugar, abiding by Epic’s everything’s-fresh philosophy of ‘Made By Day, Gone By Night.’ A complete menu can be viewed at facebook.com/epicfmco – thanks to Epic co-founder Wick Kee & his team for hosting us here.
