Review: WIP on the Park
April 28th, 2025
Zab Zab strives to live up to its Thai-language name, which means ‘delicious’; for fans of boat noodles, it’s worth taking a trip to Kuchai Entrepreneurs Park to try this Thai treat at this family-owned restaurant.
Zab Zab pays attention to authenticity, with Thai cooks preparing each bowl in the open kitchen. The recipe here comprises more than 20 herbs & spices, with most ingredients sourced from Thailand.
Zab Zab offers not only Thai kuey teow, mee hoon & glass noodles in broth thickened with pork blood; its secret weapon is a spicier version that constitutes the restaurant’s interpretation of tom yam. RM1.90 per bowl.
Patrons can also customise their noodles – each bowl is made to order, so feel free to request whether you’d like yours more fiery or tangier. We like ’em soupy, but even the dry ones are wet enough to whet the appetite.
All in all, Zab Zab’s rendition of boat noodles proves satisfyingly well-executed, packing a zing, a zest & a fair bit of punch. Order a side serving of fried pork rind (RM1.90) to add a welcome crunch.
Prefer bigger bowls? Zab Zab has those too, in the form of savoury tom yam noodles with prawns (RM9.90). The outlet plans to offer a wider variety of Thai street snacks, potentially including BBQ items, by next year, when it brings in another Thai chef.
Finish sweetly with coconut cream jelly desserts (RM3.90 for two), washed down with Thai soy bean or milk tea beverages.
If you’re into wine, you could pair your visit to Zab Zab with La’Vin Winery, less than a three-minute walk away.
Shelves of bottles line a wall at La’Vin – pick one & spend an hour here – the place stays open till midnight.
Grub can be ordered from the Food Talk cafe nearby, but we wouldn’t really endorse the bitter gourd roasted pork rice (RM9.90; the meat tasted past its prime) or the Indo Mee with egg (RM4.90; make it at home).
