Review: Ekkamai Thai Kitchen
May 21st, 2025
Moussandra moves: A new era beckons for this beloved institution, which has shifted over the past 15 years from Jalan Pinang to KL Plaza and now, Solaris Dutamas. Paintings and artifacts from bygone decades provide a reassuring link to Moussandra’s history; even though the management changed several years ago, this is still a restaurant that respects its customers and remains passionate about serving satisfying fare to the best of its abilities.
Tapas have consistently been Moussandra’s top treat: Try these juicy, sweet-salty dates, stuffed with almonds and wrapped with beef bacon (RM15++).
Moussandra’s spanakopita (RM24++) is irreproachable, a spinach pie that’s both buttery and fluffy, blessed with a warm freshness that elevates it beyond versions elsewhere.
Savor the spectacle of the Greek saganaki (RM32++), a creamy, egg-blanketed fusion of feta and mozzarella cheese, flambeed by the table with Pernod, served with pita bread.
Mixed souvlaki of skewered lamb, chicken and beef (RM58++) served with tzatziki yogurt dip.
Moussandra’s seafood paella (RM45++) lands at the table with a strong scent of saffron; one of this restaurant’s most reliable traits is its refusal to cut corners.
Moussandra’s Sangria is still pretty nice, potent & made with commendable wine.
Entry on Moussandra at KL Plaza/Fahrenheit 88: May 2012.
