Traditional Recipe Restaurant at Kuchai Maju: Restaurant review
Traditional Recipe entirely embodies its name, evidenced by everything from Hakka braised duck rice to hand-torn spinach pan mee, Fuzhou fish ball soup to salted chicken and century egg porridge.
And all year round, there’s lap mei fan (RM16.80) and bak chang (RM11) here – the latter fares better, with comparatively superior ingredients (a comprehensive ensemble of roasted pork and chicken, salted egg yolk, sausages, dried oysters, chestnuts and mushrooms, versus lower-tier waxed meat that’s dried out and funky-tasting), though both fall in the if-you-must classification. Wash down with pomelo tea and sugarcane-chestnut juice.
