Prezzo at Telawi, Bangsar: Snapshot

Not a bad stop for Italian cooking with a few interesting flourishes; Prezzo opened in Telawi this past month, with a solid selection that includes unique salads served on flatbread – try the one with juicy slices of steak prepared rare & partnered with red onions, cherry tomatoes, beetroot, peppers, rocket leaves, parmesan cheese & lemon-mustard dressing (RM30) for a combo with lively nuances – & a well-prepared, well-priced risotto (RM22) that showcases satisfying dimensions of flavours, thanks to a complex mix of shiitake, button, oyster & chestnut mushrooms, plus truffle oil, parsley & parmesan cheese.

Prezzo’s penne scores nicely too, crowned with a tender chunk of oak-roasted salmon, broccoli & red chillies in a creamy pomodoro-pesto sauce (RM24). The pizza could use a thinner, crispier crust, but toppings like egg, spinach, pesto-dressed rocket, sun-dried & cherry tomatoes, bechamel sauce & buffalo mozzarella for the house-recommended special work well enough to make this an enjoyable eat (RM29). Wine is available by both the bottle & glass; service is warm & welcoming.
