Review: WIP on the Park
April 28th, 2025
Its cute & catchy name might seem sufficient to lure curious customers, but thankfully, there’s still more to Oinkz than that.
As its name strongly suggests, Oinkz – run by young entrepreneurs Danny, Wallace & See Siang – is all about the hog, specialising in porky burgers & snacks served in a PJ kopitiam instead of a full-fledged outlet of its own.
Oinkz currently operates only in the evening, 6pm-10pm, since the other stalls in this kopitiam (which include Sabah & Vietnamese pork noodle operators) are closed then. It currently opens three nights a week (Fridays through Sundays), but will likely also run on Wednesdays & Thursdays starting next week.
This brand-new burger business whips up concoctions with fun monikers, including ‘aPORKalypse now’ (RM12, not including a RM4 add-on for McCain skin-on fries & a soft drink), a hearty meal with a house-made spicy pork patty marinated with curry & laced with cili padi, topped with hot sauce, bacon, caramelised onions & egg.
Appropriate for customers who adore messy street-style burgers; the patty’s pretty satisfactory, with enough juice & flavour to make each mouthful worthwhile. And of course, bacon & egg make everything better.
Keep your hands clean with Oinkz’s disposable gloves. Other movie-themed burger temptations here include ‘The TransPORKter’ (RM12, with a pork patty that’s breaded & deep-fried instead of grilled) & ‘The Godfather’ (RM17, billed as The Don of all burgers, with double the patties & double the bacon).
Oinkz also does a decent ‘roti babi’ (a bit expensive for RM8 though), as well as handmade pork meatballs (RM8).
And braised pork belly with cili padi & sweet-sour plum sauce (RM10). Note that Oinz only prepares 50 burgers nightly; it’s still a hidden secret for now (we basically had the kopitiam to ourselves for most of the hour), but to be safe, try to head here earlier in the evening before the eventual crowds come & the burgers potentially run out.
