Koosh Koffez at Solaris Dutamas: Review

Conjuring up notes of razzle-dazzle in its decor & dishes, Koosh Koffeez is an eccentrically colourful venue, exuberant with plush chairs & playful hip-hop caricatures, that takes an adventurous approach to everything from pastas to waffles & coffee.

Mediterranean Meal

The menu jumps across genres & boundaries – our favourite recipe here is the Mediterranean Meal (RM21), comprising a flavourful mince of sauteed spiced lamb partnered with Turkish pide flat-bread, hummus, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic aioli, shimeiji & white button mushrooms, salsa & sour cream – an ensemble that’s easy to enjoy, with earthy, meaty dimensions.

Lamb Shank and Pizza

Lamb features prominently in Koosh Koffeez’s repertoire – you can order it in its full, fleshy glory by trying the tender shank basted in a stew of coffee, carrots & onions, drizzled with an espresso glaze & heaped on mashed potatoes (RM45; note that the nuances of coffee prove very subtle) or have it on the Kasablanca pizza, minced & fried with cumin, piled with capsicum, onions, jalapenos & sour cream on a crunchy base of tomato-infused dough (RM25; Koosh’s prices seem pretty reasonable).
