Review: WIP on the Park
April 28th, 2025
Some of the most satisfying cakes we’ve tasted this year were baked with confidence, care & creativity by the close-knit team behind Bisque, an online store that delivers made-to-order cakes not only across the Klang Valley but also to Penang & Johor.
Bisque is the brainchild of Juliana Omar, who has fond memories of having spent many hours in the family kitchen since her teens. She now works with a team that includes her younger brother Hakim & close friend Davina Gomes to spread delicious cheer through decadent desserts like this crusted caramel beauty crowned with a stack of Valrhona brownies.
There are reasons why Bisque could steadily become a towering, well-respected force: It relies on top-flight components – French butter & Valrhona or Callebaut for chocolate – with plenty of customisation possibilities – mix & match your cake base with toppings – so buyers can obtain unique cakes that prove uber-fresh (baking’s completed on the day of delivery). The result: Cakes that look impressively gorgeous & taste equally terrific.
Bisque’s cakes come in 7-inch & 9-inch varieties, with basic ones starting in price from RM108 each. More elaborate choices with lots of toppings – like a Vintage Victoria with blueberries, Maverick Mint with Milo Nuggets, Banana Brunette with Maltesers, or Royal Red Velvet with Kinder Bueno & Chocolate Spoons – mostly cost between RM134 & RM186.
Many thanks to the Bisque team for this sampling of their whole cakes: Each turns out to be exquisitely moist, with memorable flavours (not too sweet & certainly not cloying) that could leave cake admirers fantasising for weeks about what they’ve savoured.
Thinking of tarts? Bisque also prides itself on a Banoffee that’s a sheer delight; it’s something that Hakim has whipped up many a time for various celebrations, since his relatives & friends all adore it.
These preservative-free cakes can be conveniently purchased at bisque.com.my with online payments available. Pick-ups are possible at Bisque’s Damansara Perdana kitchen; otherwise, the cakes are delivered (with a RM30 charge) in brown corrugated cardboard boxes.
Cakes adorned with artwork drawn & painted by hand with edible ink? That’s in the pipeline too for Bisque’s future.
One recent study revealed that both adults & children enjoy Bisque cakes; these could become the hit of many parties.
