A Fresh New Gin in Malaysia Takes Centre Stage at RC Bar

The Lind & Lime Gin, among the newest gins to hit the Malaysian bar scene, embodies the essence of a classic London Dry Gin, crafted from the rich heritage and expertise of Edinburgh and its renowned distilling enclave of Leith. Each sip of Lind & Lime Gin is a harmonious balance of flavors, a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. According to the brand, they only do one thing, but they do it with unmatched attention to detail and quality.

This exquisite gin is distilled using a meticulous process that begins with a careful selection of seven botanicals – no more, no less – including juniper, coriander, angelica, liquorice, orris, fresh lime peel, and aromatic pink peppercorns. Each botanical contributes to the distinctive character of Lind & Lime Gin, ensuring a complex yet perfectly balanced flavor profile.

Lind & Lime produces one gin and one gin only

Juniper, the cornerstone botanical, imparts a forest-like aroma reminiscent of fresh pine and juicy berries. The addition of fresh lime peel adds Lind & Lime’s signature citrusy top note, while aromatic pink peppercorns contribute depth and complexity with hints of orange-like citrus and warming spice.

The distillation process begins by macerating the botanicals in organic grain neutral spirit, allowing them to rehydrate and infuse the spirit with flavor. The following day, the mixture is heated using 100% green electricity, allowing the rising vapour to pass through the lime peel and infuse the spirit with a beautiful citrus aroma. After at least two weeks of resting, the gin is bottled in-house, ensuring the preservation of its delicate flavors.

Even the bottle is special, having picked up a number of impressive design awards. According to the brand, the shape of the bottle is inspired by the remarkable industrial heritage of Leith. In the 18th and 19th centuries, whisky merchants gradually began to dominate the shore as Leith became Scotland’s national hub for the maturation and export of the country’s national spirit. The key raw materials for making glass were locally abundant: sand and kelp, and the first records of glass production in Leith emerge from the mid to late 17th century.

Everything about the gin evokes its Scottish maritime heritage

It was this remarkable local industrial heritage that inspired Lind & Lime to choose a wine bottle shape for their gin. As a further nod to the heritage of their Leith home, they’ve also embossed the words ‘Leith Glass Works’ on the base of the elegant bottle. While the industry no longer exists in Leith’s historic port, who knows what the future might hold. For now, we can just enjoy the output from Lind & Lime: an award-winning bottle that contains an award-winning gin.
