Review: Ekkamai Thai Kitchen

Straight from Sarawak, Salted is a food stall run by Mr & Mrs Chai from Kuching, serving two specialities from their state:
Boasting firm-to-the-bite, thicker-than-usual rice vermicelli submerged in a savoury broth made with Kuching-produced paste (plus a few extra secret ingredients added by Mrs Chai), blanketed with prawns, cuttlefish, shredded chicken, bean sprouts & omelette strips (RM8.90 for a regular portion, RM13.90 for a somewhat larger).
A recipe that’s an acquired taste, with vermicelli, cucumber & cuttlefish in a love-it-or-loathe-it gravy totally imbued with the fermented sweetness of shrimp paste (RM6.90), ideally consumed with century eggs for a moderated balance of pungent flavours (RM3).
