Green trees, green curry: We’re happy to flee the city for nature’s open-air embrace at Ma-Ni Cuisine, where feasts of Thai fare unfurl at a laid-back pace, punctuated with wild insect sounds and sightings amid Hulu Selangor’s lushly forested, wood-accented backdrop.
Ma-Ni’s menu is eggs-tensive; yolk-adoring customers might want to commence with a triple-whammy of salted eggs with spicy ferns and shrimp (RM20), century eggs with minced chicken and crispy Thai basil (RM24) and crispy deep-fried battered omelette with a chilli, garlic and ginger sauce (RM18). Not what the doctor or dietician ordered, but some dishes are irresistible.
Rich, robust flavours emerge for both the hor mok (RM30; the seductive Southeast Asian seafood souffle) and the beef massaman curry (RM28; creamy & fragrant). Extra tip: Wine won’t be spotted on the official menu, but ask and you may receive.
