Review: WIP on the Park
April 28th, 2025
Hitting the sweet spot as the work week winds up, starting with La Cafe Memoire, a new dessert specialist in Taman Tun.
With Mandarin-language pop ballads playing in the background, La Cafe Memoire – filled with wood pallet furnishing, tucked on the first floor of the shop-house row that includes Surisit & Mukha – is a bit of an unexpected entry into this neighbourhood; it feels like something from another suburb. But it could certainly work well enough for a teatime retreat or evening’s sanctuary.
The counter here is lined with wide-ranging snacks such as cranberry cheese buns (RM5.50) & lavender panna cotta (RM8).
These recipes might benefit from further tweaking for more natural-tasting flavours, though we like how the cafe is clearly striving to create a crowd-pleasing selection at not-too-punishing prices. Chocolate souffles (RM15), creme brulee (RM6.50), crepe suzette (RM9.60) & profiteroles (RM11) are available too.
La Cafe Memoire secures its coffee from Klang-based roasters Seraph Awaken. There’s one alcoholic concoction, the Caffe Alexander (RM15), made with a splash of Bols Cacao Brown liquor. Perhaps not quite as well-balanced as a Brandy Alexander.
