Creativity Meets Craft: Royal Salute Unveils Its Harris Reed Edition at Skillet KL

Royal Salute, renowned for its exceptional Scotch whisky, which is always aged a minimum of 21 years, recently unveiled the amazing Royal Salute 21-Year-Old Harris Reed Edition in Kuala Lumpur. The launch took place at Skillet KL, the Michelin-selected restaurant well-known for its exquisite cuisine and consistent dedication to quality. Guests at the exclusive event were treated to a curated dining experience that perfectly complemented the nuanced profiles of Royal Salute’s whiskies, including the 21-year-old Signature Blend, 24-year-old Cognac Cask, and the star of the evening, the 21-year-old Harris Reed Edition.

Harris Reed, the young and visionary designer known for his demi-couture creations and a commitment to gender fluidity, collaborated with Royal Salute to craft this special edition. Drawing inspiration from both his signature theatrical headpieces and Royal Salute’s regal heritage, Reed designed an intricate flagon crowned with a halo of feathers, available in striking Blue, Fuchsia, and Gold colourways. Each design embodies modernity and tradition, making this release a collector’s item. Reed, who also serves as Creative Director of Nina Ricci, is celebrated for dressing global icons like Harry Styles and Beyoncé and for creating daring, conversation-starting designs.

And what’s inside the eye-catching flagon is just as special as the design itself. Royal Salute’s Master Blender Sandy Hyslop worked closely with Reed to ensure the whisky for this special edition reflected their shared commitment to excellence. The result is a beautifully balanced blend, featuring sherry-matured Braeval whisky for rich raisin and spice notes, paired with malts matured in American oak for sweetness. The addition of grain whisky finished in charred virgin oak barrels adds layers of vanilla and a luxurious texture. This isn’t just fancy packaging; it’s an unique and very special edition of an already-legendary Scotch whisky.

Guests at the event savoured Skillet KL’s fine dishes, including indulgent starters like lobster, ultimately working up to the mains, which were paired with the Harris Reed Edition. Known for its innovation and meticulous attention to detail, Skillet KL offered an impeccable setting to launch and celebrate this creative collaboration.

The Royal Salute 21-Year-Old Harris Reed Edition is available in Blue exclusively at KLIA, and in Fuchsia and Gold at select retailers, starting at RM1,335.
