Review: WIP on the Park
April 28th, 2025
Young & Ji’s is one of the more recent additions to Solaris Dutamas; it’s a rather odd duck of a hookah bar that also features a menu that spans broccoli soup, Nicoise salad & Eggs Benedict, each for RM10 or less.
Food was unavailable on our visit here several weeks ago, so we settled for sips of a new home-grown coffee brand that could become a more familiar name in the months to come.
Gems is a Malaysian manufacturer that roasts, blends & sells coffee; its bottled beverages are now available at Young & Ji’s as well as a rising number of other cafes, including Burger Junkyard, Foodsbury, Foodtique, Las Vacas, Nemo, Paper + Toast, The Hungry Hog & more.
Gems’ flavours include the signature latte, mocha & green tea latte, all conveniently packaged.
We’re not sure whether Gems is still tweaking its formula, but these beverages are creamier than expected. Serve them with lots of ice; otherwise, they might end up being perilously cloying.
