Review: WIP on the Park
April 28th, 2025
Dessert devotees will coo over Foo Foo, which seeks to woo a slew of sweethearts with plated pleasures that come paired with house-made ice cream. It’s a beguilingly accoutred cafe, run by a band of friends & lovers with spirit, purpose & character.
Pastry chef Foo (an alumnus of Le Cordon Bleu Sydney) & his partners have conjured a collection of crowd-pleasing couplings like crispy profiteroles with salted caramel coffee ice cream (RM22), strawberry tart with balsamic vinegar ice cream (RM27), masala-spiced, red-wine-poached pear with rose petal ice cream (RM29), mango & lychee ice cream slice with fruit salsa (RM22), almond brioche with spicy chocolate gelato (RM27) & apple galette with kaffir lime ice cream (RM26); you can also order a scoop of each ice cream on its own for RM9.
The plenitude of fruits provides for a succession of perky flavours, buoyed by ice cream with pleasingly natural nuances. This winsome first-floor hideout, which opens in the evening through late at night, also offers eight-inch premium birthday cakes, such as a strawberry coconut dacquoise, by three-day advance orders.
