Biru San at APW Bangsar: Snapshot

APW Bangsar’s new alfresco Japanese-themed craft beer bar is another East Asian-inspired concept by the team behind the Kaiju Company Thai restaurant. The setting melds classic Japanese-produced arcade games (which customers can play) with decorative touches such as stickers and action figures of Godzilla, propelled by an upbeat soundtrack that swings from Osaka rapper Basi to Korean hip-hop star Keith Ape.

Japanese bottles stake a major claim to the beverage list of ‘Mr Beer,’ with the familiar Hitachino Nest pale ales and lagers sharing the spotlight with the Yo-Ho Brewing Company’s Tokyo Black Porter and Indo no Aooni IPA. But you’ll also find Australian, English and Scottish brews, as well as sake, gin and whisky. Nibbles can be ordered from Kaiju next door – or just have some simple but satisfyingly smooth Hoegaarden or Guinness ice cream (RM12).
