Review: WIP on the Park
April 28th, 2025
This review is brought to you in part by Tiny Temptress.
Temptation comes in many shapes and sizes: Telawi’s latest dessert parlour might be tiny in both its name and pastel-pigmented space, but it works hard to punch above its weight in terms of creativity, charm and cheeriness. Founder Wendy Loh and her team first fired up their ovens as an online baking business in 2013 before launching their first physical cafe in Sri Petaling this year; now, their second outpost in less than six months is open too, spreading the gospel of ganaches, gelees and glazes in Bangsar.
Tiny Temptress’ cutely crafted treats have attracted many curious customers through sheer visual allure alone – the Choux Au Craqueline (RM14) is probably the prime example, taking the classic French cream puff and transforming it into an Instagram magnet that evokes a peeping birdling, with mango cream cheese and Mandarin orange sauce embedded in the crunchy pastry – note though that this one might not be available in December as the cafe is rolling out a separate Christmas selection of seasonal cakes. No worries – look for the Bear Necessities (RM14), another creature-comfort creation, one that Mowgli might love, with oolong-infused dark chocolate mousse blanketing a core of passion fruit ganache and chocolate marzipan sponge.
From macarons in unorthodox flavours like salted egg yolk, lychee rose, mint, milk orange and caramelised white chocolate to marshmallows and madeleines, Tiny Temptress’ repertoire spans both the basic essentials and the more elaborate entremets – the latter includes signatures like The Sweetheart (RM14; yoghurt mousse, raspberry gelee and chocolate ganache on a biscuit base), Cloud Nine (RM14; a chocolate lover’s fantasy of choc mousse, choc marzipan sponge, choc streusel and choc feuilletine, blanketed with brulee marshmallow), The Temptress (RM16; a dual-topped tart layered with raspberry curd, chocolate glaze, white chocolate rose whip and baked almond cream), L’Affection (RM16; a slick-surfaced heart of lychee cream and almond joconde sponge in strawberry gelee) and the Lychee Berry Tart with lemon cream and frangipane on a handmade shell (RM16).
Tiny Temptress is also showcasing a high tea promo set to conclude 2016 – this very pretty tray comprises a madeleine, macaron, petite cake and cup of TWG tea for RM33. The choice of cake is L’Affection or The Red Apple, a Yuletide special of spice-poached apple with dacquiose, caramel and honey mousse on a gingerbread cookie base. Thanks to Tiny Temptress for a sweet supper – the cafe opens at 9am and closes at midnight daily, making cakes possible both before lunch and long past sunset.
