Review: WIP on the Park
April 28th, 2025
Get naughty at Dotty’s: Guilty indulgences gild the counters of this cafe-bakery, where sweet curiosities are conceived with fanciful aplomb.
This is TTDI’s first brush with a speculoos eclair, sprinkled with shortcrust cookie crumbs & stuffed with rich cream that hints of cardamom & cloves (RM10).
Slicing Dotty’s pastries spills their secrets on the lovely tableware: The immediate lure may be the salted egg yolk cronut, a crisp croissant-doughnut hybrid that pours open with a smooth, ooze-your-heart-out custard flavoured with salted egg yolk, slightly more sweet than savoury (RM11 – if you drop by & it’s sold out, you can potentially place an order to come collect a freshly made one in a couple of hours).
A flaky brown cube conceals a centre of thick peanut butter & chocolate (RM8), for folks who believe ‘diet’ & ‘counting calories’ belong in a foreign vocabulary.
Complex meals will be available by this weekend – salt beef with sourdough baguette, Scotch egg with sweet potato fries & French toast with kaya filling; there’ll be a doughnut latte too, with the fried confection dunked with coffee & ice cream in a cup.
