Tucked on a secluded corner of Empire Damansara, this casual restaurant whips up fun fare to tempt fans of Thai flavours. The outlet is spearheaded by brothers Aiden & Adrian, seeking to recreate the food they love best from the Land of Smiles.

Start with a Snack

Start with a snack – try a little tenderness with Lobbee’s chicken skewers (RM9), a tasty treat that’s photogenically bolstered by a leaf-wrapped scoop of sticky rice. Squid cakes (RM12) also prove juicy & flavoursome, while fried crab cakes (RM13) & sesame shrimp (RM8) supply a fresh-from-the-stove crunch that’s precisely partnered with Lobbee’s variety of punchy sauces.

Seafood Tom Yum Noodle

The star attraction at Lobbee is this gargantuan seafood tom yum noodle bowl that four customers can comfortably share – this Lobbee Combo (RM98) comprises hearty cuts of lobster, king crab legs, salmon, squid, mussels & soft-boiled eggs with a choice of Thai instant noodles, kuey teow, flat noodles or vermicelli in a tangy-savoury broth. An entirely enjoyable order, with all the seafood prepared perfectly, from the succulent salmon to the springy squid, complemented by firm-to-the-bite noodles.

Single-Plate Orders

There are nonetheless plenty of single-plate orders at more affordable prices – the Noodles in Pink (RM13) showcases a selection of noodles with an assortment of fish balls in a sweet sauce evocative of Chinese-style yong tau foo, while the Peanut Noodles (RM13) do sufficient justice to ideals of Bangkok street-food comfort fare. Pad Thai (RM16) emerges with a crispy twist – fried wantan strips replace the noodles, but the recipe still successfully replicates familiar Pad Thai flavours. We might skip the Green Curry Fried Rice (RM16) though – it was too fiery for us but simultaneously bordered on blandness.

Desserts and Beverages

Lobbee is still finalising its dessert selection – patrons can expect coconut ice cream to feature heavily. For now, complimentary servings of chilled blue rubies with jack fruit will do fine. Beverages are also noteworthy, with strikingly colourful refreshments in the iced butterfly pea milk (RM9), iced tea (RM9) & red lemon sodas (RM8). Many thanks to Lobbee for hosting us – we look forward to the future plans of this restaurant, which include a small alfresco area for DIY Thai barbecues.
