Aidilfitri Greetings: Here’s a solid selection of Malay fare at the recently opened Sayong Kitchen, perfectly positioned for Damansara Heights’ office crowd.

Traditional Malaysian Cooking

Nangka Gulai Lemak Kuning (RM3), a recipe that gives traditional cooking a good name.

Ikan Masin Tumis Darat (RM3), the kind of savory-gravy food to partner with plenty of rice.

Daging Masak Hitam (RM4), not triumphantly tender but not terribly tough either.

Ayam Gajus (RM4), simple but reasonably satisfactory. Can’t say much more than that.

Bubur Lambok (RM3), creamy and tasty. Comfort carbs, always welcome.

Malaysian Sweets

Plenty of kuih-muih: kuih cara berlauk to seri ayu, cucur badak to bingka ubi.
