Malaysian Restaurants Featured in Global Food Tourism Rankings

For Thai temptations with plenty of pork, this new restaurant in Taman Desa could become a neighbourhood favourite.
Some recipes could benefit from fine-tuning though – ‘khao kha moo’ (RM10.90) is perennially crowd-pleasing, though Kanok House’s rendition of stewed pork leg rice might work better with meat that’s a touch more tender & broth that’s more complex.
From grilled pork neck (RM15.90) to spicy-sour pork rib soup (RM10.90) to ‘larb moo’ minced pork salad with noodles (RM14.90), everything is competently executed, but much of the cooking currently seems neither nuanced nor punchy enough to leave a lasting impression.
Our favourite order at Kanok House is this bigger-bowl version of boat noodles (RM7.90), an easy-to-enjoy meal of smooth noodles with slices of pork & liver in clean-tasting but flavoursome soup – a serving that’s suitable & sufficient for a light lunch.
Service is pleasant & efficient; bring a bottle if you can, since there’s no corkage fee so far.
