From Menggatal to Mid Valley: Idamoo is founded by the clan behind Sabah’s Nyuk Pau, a respected name for beef noodles for nearly three decades, attracting customers from both within Menggatal town & the nearby state capital of Kota Kinabalu. Jennica Saw brought her father Simon’s original recipe to KL & now offers it at Mid Valley Megamall’s third-floor food court.

Time-honoured comfort cuisine: Beef noodles are the star; each bowl of ngiu chap starts from RM10,50, available in options of soup or dry, served with fresh beef meat, beef balls, braised brisket, tendons & tripe – we enjoyed the tender beef & the pleasantly mellow broth. You’ll also find interpretations of other Sabah noodle staples like Tuaran Mee (RM11.50) & Beaufort Mee (RM10.50); note however that these are no-pork adaptations, so they might not be authentic enough to placate purists. But they’re still respectable – cooked fresh to order in hearty portions for a filling lunch or dinner. Other dishes here include the Saw family’s own-concocted pandan rice platter with smoked chicken (RM10.50). Many thanks to Idamoo for having us here.
