This story is brought to you by Fahrenheit 600.

The erratic weather Malaysian residents have been experiencing of late has definitely thrown many people off: it could be scorching hot and before you can get your shades out, a torrential rain and thunderstorm greets you, perhaps leaving you pining for a hot cuppa. This was the experience we had when we arrived at Fahrenheit 600 in Publika Shopping Gallery: the sunny day quickly gave way to cloudy skies, giving us the perfect excuse to indulge in a steamy cup of coffee.

Making Headlines

Fahrenheit 600 is making headlines and for good reason, too. The name itself is interesting enough to pique your curiosity and make you walk in. Once inside, the restaurant, a cross between a café and pizzeria with brick walls and posters plastered on its walls, has warmth written all across its interior. The heavenly smell of freshly prepared food is enough to awaken all your senses.

An Extensive Menu

Fahrenheit 600’s menu of pizza, pasta, sandwiches, and salads is extensive and caters to both meat lovers and vegans, and the pizzas are undoubtedly the best choice. The name Fahrenheit 600 is a tell-tale sign as to why their pizzas are crisp to the touch and to bite into: their wood-fired brick oven, imported from the US, has only one temperature – six hundred degrees Fahrenheit, the optimum temperature for pizza.

Fahrenheit’s Signature Pizza

The pizzas are meltingly good and with 16 varieties, you will be spoilt for choice. We opted for the signature Fahrenheit 600 topped with sun-dried tomatoes, eggplant, and feta cheese, and Popeye the Sailor 2 with special cream sauce, spinach, chicken, egg, and Mascarpone cheese – causing a riot on your palate with countless flavours and textures. After the pizzas were devoured, we decided to give the Am a Duck Lover toast a try. It too, didn’t disappoint as the smoked duck, avocado, caramelised onions, and cheese blended exceptionally well together.

Chocolate Mousse Cake

Though we were feeling stuffed, the desserts calling out to us were hard to resist and we gave in with no regrets. The restaurant has an experienced pastry chef who insists on preparing cakes the traditional way, so while you may not find colourful, fancy desserts here, the authenticity will easily make you want more. There are several cakes available every day and it’s well worth a try. The Chocolate Mousse Cake was our favourite as the mousse was smooth and rich but did not come off as ‘heavy.’ If you’re a chocolate lover, this is the cake for you. It was a delicious and decadent dessert!

Coffee Bar

If you’re not after a meal, owners Maryam and Hamid have created a cosy space for guests to sit while enjoying the excellent beverages which are specially prepared at the coffee bar by their coffee man, Pablo. The coffee bar was set up not only to keep up with the coffee culture in Malaysia, but also to encourage communication between customers and barista. “In most places, the barista and customers never come in contact, as the waiters serve their coffee, but at Fahrenheit 600, we hope to have customers at the bar, engaged in a conversation with us about coffee and the art of serving handcrafted coffee, while waiting to be served with freshly brewed handcrafted coffee,” enthused Pablo.
