Fresca Mexican Kitchen & Bar at the Gardens Mall

Malaysia has a variety of delicious cuisines on offer; Japanese, European, Indian, etc. We at Dine Malaysia keep encountering new and exciting restaurants. One of our recent discoveries is a modern, yet cosy little Mexican restaurant in The Gardens Mall at Mid Valley City, Fresca Mexican Kitchen & Bar.

The restaurant may look small from the outside, but once you walk in, you will be greeted by a spacious dining area with a long bar in one corner. Furnishings are kept simple with a mix of distressed brick and rustic timbre, dim lighting, tiled walls, and all-round feel good ambience. The little Mexican touches here and there, like the Mexican hats (sombrero) hung on the walls gives the restaurant an authentic feel. The perfect place to relax, and watch the world go by, over a glass of margarita.

Food and Beverage at Fresca Mexican Kitchen & Bar

The impressive menu has a wonderful selection of Mexican specials such as tortilla chips, tacos, enchiladas, jalapeno poppers, nachos, quesadillas, fajitas and more. To start things off, we recommend the Jalapeno Poppers (RM16). Spicy, Jalapeno chillies coated in breadcrumbs and deep fried, and stuffed with cheese and minced beef. It is served with a side of sweet mango chipotle salsa. Another must try starter is the Camarones al Ajillo (RM24), which is tiger prawns sautéed with Guajillo chillies and garlic.

The main dishes come in decent portions that will definitely leave you full. We recommend you try the Costilla Ascada (RM43). Juicy short ribs served with a big pile of mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables. Yummy! Another must try is the Fajitas Mixed (RM41). This delicious meal comes with a sizzling plate of chicken and beef, bell peppers, onions, guacamole, pico de gallo and chipotle cream sauce. You will have to place all the ingredients onto a tortilla, wrap it up and take a nice big bite.

When it comes to drinks, Fresca has a unique selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to quench your thirst. Margaritas are a must at a Mexican restaurant, so we suggest you try the Mango Margarita (RM26). If you are feeling a little adventurous, there is the Jalapeno Margarita on Rocks (RM23). Recommended way of drinking this unique drink is to take a bite of the spicy Jalapeno, and then take a sip of the drink. The signature cocktail at Fresca is the Midnight Flight to Mexico (RM26), which is a combination of Amaretto and cinnamon.

Pricing at Fresca Mexican Kitchen & Bar is at an affordable range. You can enjoy a three course meal and a cocktail for about RM100.
