It is rare to find a buffet restaurant in any hotel in the city that could be deemed “cosy” and yet Terazza Brasserie – hidden within the Dorsett Grand Subang – is one such establishment. Pillars, tiled floors, and tables lurking behind palm trees allow diners to experience some privacy when they scuttle back to their table, plate piled high with goodies from the buffet spread, despite the impressive 160-people seating capacity of this restaurant.

And what a spread of food! Carefully arranged in the buffet area are choices a-plenty for the whole family, from fresh salads and toss-your-own-Caesar stations to chilled seafood and sushi. Start your meal with a bowl of piping hot soup served with fresh bread rolls and loaves, or pick up one of the individual starter pots – chicken terrine and tomatoes with mozzarella were the little morsels of Europe I tasted on my visit.

Main courses consisted of roasted lamb that glistened as it was sliced to order, while rice, noodles, mee mamak, and laksa provided some local zing. Seafood dishes had me going back for more (the Salmon with Seafood Bisque Sauce was delicious!) while hearty meat stews, accompanied with potatoes and vegetables, were warming options for a late-night meal. .ere was much to tempt me, and with menus on a five-cycle rotation there was every reason to make Terazza a regular haunt.

I was in for a serious treat though, when I discovered that Friday and Saturday evenings (I was there on the former) meant one thing: meat! I was guided outside and found myself face to face with a BBQ where chefs were turning sizzling slabs of stingray, chicken, hunks of beef, and spitting sticks of satay. A range of sauces and gravies added just the right dash of taste to my options, and the smoky tang of freshly cooked meat was just what I needed to end the week.

Pudding comes with a capital “P” at Terazza, and you will be forgiven for going easy on the meat to save space for the cakes, tarts, kuih, ice cream, and fresh fruits that adorn the buffet. Chocolate fondue? But of course! Plus a Crème Brûlée that will make you weep and a Bread and Butter Pudding that wobbles with the ideal spongy softness to comfort and reassure. .row in some cheeses that can be smeared on crackers or fluffy breads, and you have a selection that leaves no urge unsatisfied.
