15-New-Restaurants-in-KL-Selangor-November-December-20141

Mizuiro is a name to remember – this new Japanese-inspired cafe in Bandar Menjalara specialises not only in surprisingly wholesome ramen, made with a mix of unbleached flour & rye, & Maruyama coffee but also one of KL’s most delicious desserts, a rose-scented watermelon dacquiose that’s the closest thing in our city to the signature dessert of Sydney’s famed Black Star Pastry patisserie.

Address: 49, Jalan 9/62A, Bandar Menjalara Kepong, 5220 Kepong

3. Vladimir’s Place

15-New-Restaurants-in-KL-Selangor-November-December-20143

If you’re interested in encouraging gastronomic diversity in KL, this new Russian restaurant is worth a stop. Much of its food is reassuringly rustic, with a true-to-its-roots ring of soulful honesty. Our best bet here so far is the classic ‘herring under a fur coat,’ a chilled, eye-catching salad with perky flavours. layered with diced salted fish, boiled beets, carrots, potatoes & mayo, but we also like the ‘giblets in a pot’ – this innard-inundated recipe throws together chicken liver, heart & gizzard with bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes & cream, creating comfort food for frosty Siberian winters & stormy Malaysian nights.

Address: 32, Jalan Inai, Off Jalan Imbi, 55100 Kuala Lumpur
