This review is brought to you in part by Tai Zi Heen.

If you spend your days off nursing a craving for hot, tasty dim sum, we have another great choice for you in the city. Head down to Pullman KLCC on Jalan Conlay, just a stone’s throw from Pavilion KL, and indulge in all-you-can-eat dim sum brunch, held on weekends and public holidays at the hotel’s lovely Tai Zi Heen Chinese restaurant on the first floor.

Dim sum aficionados know that yum cha, as it’s often called, is all about small plates and baskets of steamed, pan-fried, or deep-fried dumplings, complemented by pots of Chinese tea. More than that, though, it’s about time well-spent with friends and family, all gathered around a table full of fresh and tasty food.

We were on hand recently for the launch of this new weekend and holiday brunch offering, and though the dim sum is pork-free – as tends to be the case at hotels in Malaysia – there was plenty of flavour and variety! Prawn and veggie dumplings, rice rolls, deep-fried sesame balls, buns, custard tarts, and loads of other Chinese delicacies. We simply checked off what we wanted on the order form, passed it to our server, and within moments, baskets of tasty treats were arriving.

No dim sum meal is complete without tea, and at Pullman KLCC, the tea is a special one. The hotel has partnered with US-based Harney & Sons, a premium tea company whose range of Chinese teas simply blew us away. The pu-erh was terrific, but so too were their oolong and green teas, with our hands-down favourite being the smoky, marvellously aromatic lapsang souchang.

The new dim sum menu on hand at Tai Zi Heen boasts a range of 45 freshly prepared options, so there’s no shortage of old favourites and new choices for diners. We had a great time perusing the menu and making our choices, topping up our pots and trying new teas, all while not having to worry about running up our bill – after all, the brunch is all you can eat!
