Uncle Don's at SS2 Petaling Jaya: Restaurant review

Uncle Don’s has become a fast favourite in PJ for its people-pleasing fare – our best bets here are all about the hog: A redo of Filipino sizzling sisig (RM10.80; made with ground pork meat instead of chopped pig ears) and Malaccan Portuguese claypot sambal pork belly that’s creamy and flavoursome (RM10.80).

We could nitpick about our other orders – the grilled pork belly (RM18.80) could have been juicier, the nachos with pork chilli con carne (RM16.80) crispier and the spicy bacon omelette (RM16.80) much less greasy – but Malaccan-born chef Don Daniel Theseira has crafted a menu that confidently illustrates his experience and capabilities.
