The Food Parlor has its roots in Malaysia’s historic state, Malacca – the parents of the outlet’s co-founder Cheryl reputedly run an eatery in Malacca’s Portuguese Settlement, so it’s natural that this casual venue specialises in cherished Eurasian family recipes that Malaccans know well.

You’ll find fairly priced, fuss-free rice sets (RM12.50-RM14.50) that emphasise chicken pongteh (respectable), ambilek long beans curry and captain’s curry. For a fun Kristang-Italian twist, try the Devil’s Spaghetti (RM14.50), a rich, saucy pasta with Devil’s Curry gravy, tossed with chunks of chicken, onions and parmesan.
