There’s a whimsical charm to this idyllic new cafe, which could become quite an attraction for several of its specialities.

Unicorn teardrop

If you’ve been scouting around for mizu shingen mochi – the Japanese ‘water cake’ – Terracotta serves its own crystalline version of the wobbly, jelly-like dessert, calling it a ‘unicorn teardrop.’

It may look like a fragile bubble, quivering at the slightest touch of a spoon, but it’s firm to the bite, with a very gentle sweetness, paired with roasted soybean flour and brown sugar syrup. RM8.90.

Waffles with cheese and ice-cream

You’ll also find some interesting waffles, pastas and tea here. Our best bet might be William’s Cheese Cottage (RM22.90), a sweet-savoury waffle that’s topped not only with Terracotta’s own-made vanilla and tea ice cream but also layered with cheese, salted butter and honey – a guilty pleasure that goes down easy.

Grenada verde pasta

But we have mixed sentiments about the Grenada Verde Pasta (RM22.90) – the mashed-up sauce of avocado, spinach, Greek yoghurt, tomatoes and onions is well-textured but seems a little off in its balance of flavours, with more than a hint of sour.
