Sala Vegan Restaurant at Desa Sri Hartamas: Restaurant review
This vegan haven is a melting pot of flavours from Mexico, Malaysia and more, illuminating how a meatless meal can consist of full-bodied, fulfilling fare.
Tacos topped with textured combinations like BBQ jackfruit, purple cabbage, chopped cucumbers, pico de gallo and cilantro (RM7; raw, leafy tacos are also available as occasional specials for RM28), house-cooked chili that’s comfortingly rich with beans, sweet potatoes, lentils, tomatoes, vegan sour cream, vegan nacho cheese and crackers (RM9)…
…falafel wraps with tahini, harissa, diced onions and bell peppers (RM18), creamy curry laksa with yellow noodles blanketed by tofu, bean sprouts, green beans, eggplant and lime (RM10 for a large portion), and nasi lemak with sambal tempeh, a fish-free sambal ‘bilis’ and nuts (RM10). Food that’s good enough to make omnivores gladly forgo the familiarity of flesh for an afternoon.
