Curiosity won’t kill the coffee lover: Cafe-hoppers can head to Damansara Perdana this weekend to inspect two new hangouts, beginning most likely with The Curious Goat, helmed by several friends who honed their craft at Solaris Dutamas’ Coffee Societe before launching their own outlet.
Let’s solve one mystery first. Customers may wonder: Is The Curious Goat linked to Taman Tun’s Frisky Goat? It isn’t, though both plucked their names from the popular legend of the Ethiopian & his herd of goats credited for originally chancing upon the coffee plant. If we ever open a cafe, we’ll call it The Restless Rabbit.
Plenty of positive vibes at The Curious Goat, thanks to the warm people who run this cafe & make its easy-drinking coffee; the outlet relies on Sulawesi Toraja beans, roasted by Phileo Damansara’s Sprezzatura.
The Curious Goat bakes its own cupcakes & cookies, still being fine-tuned. Sandwiches should be available in two weeks.
20, Jalan PJU 8/3A, Damansara Perdana, Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Currently open 11am through at least 10pm. Day off not determined yet.

A five-minute drive from The Curious Goat, there’s Petit Noms, the first F&B outlet on the first floor of the Empire Damansara complex, above Seven Cups & Boat Noodle. It’s an excellent refuge from the crowds, since it’s impossible to spot from below.
Petit Noms is led by Michael & Rex, who also form an amiable team; it looks set to be a French-influenced eatery that offers European-style brunches & dinners (think cassoulets). That should start when the kitchen is running in about two weeks too.
For now, Petit Noms’ customers can nibble on Earl Grey cakes & macarons supplied by independent baker Foret Blanc .
… paired with Twinings tea (Four Red Fruits comes deservedly recommended).
Lot 125, First Floor, Empire Damansara, Damansara Perdana
Currently open noon through 10pm. Will eventually open for brunch & dinner.

Petit Noms has a bit of a balcony with a pleasant, peaceful view. With places like The Curious Goat & Petit Noms popping up, things are certainly looking up at Damansara Perdana.
