Oishii Onigiri: Food truck review

Roaming Damansara Heights, Ampang, Petaling Jaya and beyond, this Japanese food truck offers everything from takoyaki to bentos and donburi, but true to its name, it’s chief offering is onigiri. You’ll find at least four types of rice balls at any given time here, with fillings that range from salmon, eel, scallops, sesame chicken and crab sticks to mashed potatoes, sweet corn and egg mayo.

We tried the ebiko, filled with lots of crunchy shrimp roe (RM4 for one, RM10 for three). The tamago mentai might also be worth investigating if you ever spot this bright-coloured vehicle – soft, warm omelette strips, cooked to order, topped with a creamy layer of intensely savoury pollock roe (RM6.90).
