Kampong Kravers is taking a fresh leap into prominence this year, expanding from its original kiosk-based business into a series of comfy cafes that have sprouted across the Klang Valley’s key shopping malls, including Atria Shopping Gallery, Sunway Putra Mall, Lot 10 Hutong, IOI City Mall Putrajaya, Skypark Subang Terminal & NU Sentral Mall.

Mihun Briyani Set

The cafes highlight a range of beloved Malaysian recipes infused with intriguing twists – check out Kampong Kravers’ one-of-a-kind Mihun Briyani, laced with briyani spices that double the dynamics of flavour for the fried vermicelli, served warm from the kitchen & partnered with ayam berempah, savoury-sweet sambal, egg, lime, cucumber & a signature XL-sized karipap. Kampong Kravers is now offering this in an introductory set for RM9.90, which includes a beverage (kopi-o, teh-o or sirap).

Kampong Kravers’ nasi lemak

Kampong Kravers’ nasi lemak with curry chicken is also notable, made with basmati rice for more wholesome nutrition, remaining true to the business’ philosophy of preparing all its food with no MSG & no added preservatives or artificial colouring. RM11.90 for a promotional set with beverage; note that if you’re travelling on Firefly, both the Mihun Biryani & Nasi Lemak Basmati, as well as Chicken or Sweet Potato Karipap, are now available for pre-booking & pick-up at Subang Skypark.

Nyonya Laksam and Roti Jala

Other satisfactory choices include the Nyonya Laksam (RM9.90 for a set with karipap & drink), which blends the spaghetti that’s common in Johor laksa with a fusion of elements from other Malaysian laksa varieties, as well as Roti Jala (RM9.90 for a full set), which comes in natural colours that includes lightly green hues. Prices feel pleasingly reasonable.

Fulfilling Spiral Curry Puffs

Kampong Kravers’ claim to fame is ultimately its commitment to some of the city’s most fulfilling spiral curry puffs, which come in multiple sizes & robustly tasty flavours. Snap up the XL for RM3.10 (two for RM5.20) in varieties like chicken & egg, mutton or sardine, Regular for RM2.40 (three for RM5.20) in chicken, mutton, sardine, spicy ikan bilis, chilli tuna, mushroom mayo or sweet potato, or with sweet stuffings such as cempedak, durian or apple custard (RM2.40 for one, RM5.20 for three).

Karipaps that meet the mark, showcasing a fresh-from-the-oven warmth, with a crisp, flaky skin that envelops substantially creamy, meaty fillings. We would be happy to munch on one of these for breakfast or a teatime treat several times a week.

Desserts

Kampong Kravers also works as a dessert stop – you’ll find both contemporary favourites such as cream puffs filled with flavours like vanilla, custard, durian or cempedak, plus traditional classics that span sugee, chocolate or banana cakes, available by slice or loaf. Despite this being a mall outlet, the cakes here have a pleasant home-made feel to them.
