Italian Cuisine, the Halal Way with Positano Risto: Snapshot

Deriving the quintessential coastal beauty of the Italian harbour town, Positano Risto aims to bring authentic Italian food to Malaysia via its tale of a Muslim resident, and how it changed the town’s history.

We had the opportunity to visit this lavishly designed restaurant in Publika Shopping Gallery for a quiet lunch.

Our attention was brought to their ongoing Express Lunch offerings, featuring a menu of some of their best-selling pastas, or a choice selection of grilled burgers.

Wanting to break away from tradition, we opted for a serving of Crab Linguine instead of the bolognese or carbonara.

An addition of garlic bread with a side of olive oils infused with the sour tang of lemon, spicy chili oil, and sweet honey was part of the menu’s meal deal, one we found pleasant to enjoy as an appetizer.

The pasta was nicely al-dente, doused in a flavourful red tomato sauce that did not drown out the taste of crab meat and seafood.

We also were served their best-selling item from their Viva La Pizza, the Postiano Super Supreme Calzone. Presented with crispy wonton-like crusts surrounding exposed fillings of turkey ham, beef pepperoni, buratta and parmesen cheese, Positano Risto’s take on what we knew to be a calzone was truly a surprise.
