Happy Hour: Bars to Enjoy a Smooth Guinness All Year Round

When it’s the end of  a long work day or week, sometimes all you want to do is enjoy a nice, cold pint. But how many times have you been disappointed when you’ve taken a sip of Guinness, expecting a the silky smooth mouthful of stout, only to be greeted by a flat pint? Crafting the perfect pint isn’t particularly, but it is important. The Guinness Storehouse in Dublin even has the Guinness Academy, teaching enthusiasts how to pour the perfect pint.

Are you craving a pint right now? Here are some places that have proven not to disappoint when it comes to serving a good Guinness pint.

Sid’s Pub

The first Sid’s Pub opened in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) in 2007 and has grown steadily in the years since with well-trafficked branches in Bangsar South, Bukit Tunku, and Damansara Heights. It’s owner, Geoff Siddle, is a fan of the neighbourhood pub concept, keeping close to the comfort and authenticity of England Pubs. Their latest addition is a branch in Melaka, a stone’s throw away from Jonker Street. For a list of locations, visit their website.

Online Pub

Another neighbourhood pub, Online has been around for more than 20 years. Their bar in Damansara Kim was opened by 4 brothers and the name was inspired by their father, who worked on the railway tracks. Good food and drinks is something that they strive for, which led to the opening of their second outlet in SS4, Petaling Jaya. A must-try, which pairs well with a Guinness pint, is their hokkein mee!

1974 Bar and Restaurant at DC Mall

Tucked away in the corner on the ground of DC Mall in Kuala Lumpur is this quaint little bar that not only serves up good and cheap beer, but also good food. Don’t be fooled by their green interior, with Irish-inspired decor, as their food focuses on Korean bites. A particularly favourite dish was the Signature Korean Fried Chicken, pairing well with my pint! Check out their Facebook page for more on their promotions.

They’ve also set up all around the country! The family also prides themselves in serving good food and drinks to all. On selected days, enjoy live music and all day long happy hours, not forgetting, the perfect Guinness pint!

Cheers!
