The Gallery Cafe at Taman Desa: Cafe review

Every day is Sunday at The Gallery, whose British founder Craig offers his version of his country’s Sunday Roast throughout the week, featuring a choice of lamb, beef or chicken with a punchy gravy, partnered with the requisite Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, carrots and beans (RM54.90). But while Blighty classics pepper the menu (there’s fish and chips, of course), Italy and France enjoy representation too, with tomato-rich spaghetti alla puttanesca holding court with the likes of beef bourguignon.

Set lunch

Midday customers might opt for the set lunch; RM19.90 nett gets you a soup of the day, followed by a main course such as toast topped with eggs, turkey ham, rocket leaves, house-made pesto and pumpkin mash, plus a lemon tea. Bring your own wine; the gracious team here charges no corkage fees.

Bonus points as well for the lovely art that lines The Gallery, which includes a wall dedicated to the imaginative work of children, bringing a touch of personal charm to this neighbourhood cafe.
