Gai Ye BBQ Satay Lok Lok at Cheras: Snapshot

Aiming to come close to Malacca’s satay celup experience, Gai Ye offers all the essential hits, from cockles to quail eggs, pork meatballs to kangkung, and then some (the skewers cost between RM1-RM3 each), dipped not only in the familiar satay sauce but other flavours like salted egg soup, kimchi or assam laksa (broth bases start from RM10).

While the team here clearly works hard to please patrons, the main gravy lacks enough of the thick, chunky texture and rich, nutty flavour to evoke a 1980s satay celup dinner in Gajah Berang.
