The Starling’s latest envoy for cuisine from East and West succeeds in negotiating a diplomatic detente of something for everybody on one menu.

The chilli-loaded Nasi Istimewa (RM28) wages a fiery war on the Asian palate, with fried rice backed by a formidable alliance of anchovy and tempeh sambal, kampung-loving ayam pindang, kobis goreng, kerabu mangga, papadum and telur mata kerbau, while the Madame Secretary burger (RM35) might win the vote of Western fare partisans, bulked up with buttermilk-fried chicken, onion rings, Swiss cheese, a sunny-side-up and honey mustard mayo.

Drinks

Flat whites prepared with almond milk and speciality teas like Malabar Chai are available, but what you’ll soon be seeing most of The Embassy on social media should be the very pretty nature-themed murals of palm trees, an antlered buck and owl on the walls.
