What’s better than International Mojito Day? How about drawing it out into a month-long celebration and expanding the one classic cocktail into more than 30 tantalising variations?

That’s exactly what SOULed Out in Sri Hartamas is doing, and we were there for the big kick-off last weekend. Under new guidelines, we had to register and have our temperature checked first, then we did the hand-sanitizing thing and took our seats at the festive outdoor space around the pop-up Cuban bar! And what a great time on offer – loads of mojito cocktails, an array of Cuban-inspired food, Cuban cigars, and that terrific SOULed Out vibe that we’ve sorely missed during the long lockdown period.

So what’s it all about? Well, from now until August 15, every Thursday to Sunday, it’s basically Mojito Madness at this popular Hartamas hangout. Over 30 different mojitos are offered at a specially designated Cuban Mojito Corner, the newly installed Funky Bar. From the refreshing Classic to the Instagram worthy Bora Bora, revellers will be spoilt for choice with their vast offerings, while also having the opportunity to create their own Bacardi Highball labelled Rum Two Three. We especially enjoyed the Granny Smith mojito and the Dragonfruit mojito, and couldn’t say no to a festively arranged-on-ice selection of frozen mojito lollipops!

Thanks to their partnership with Bacardi, the Cuban Mojito Corner will be helmed by acclaimed bar maestro and Bacardi ambassador Jonas Ax, who will be on hand to help patrons create the mojito of their choice every week on Thursdays and Fridays during the celebratory campaign.

SOULed OUT is also bringing the Cuban experience to life by introducing a special limited time only food menu featuring Paprika Soy Beef, Salmon & Bass Salada, Lamb Pimentos, and more.

DJ Harry, a prominent figure in the Malaysian salsa social scene synonymous with Bachata, will also be taking over the decks, spinning up some sensual Salsa tunes to turn up the heat even more. Cigar merchants from Trinidad will also be making their rounds for the ultimate Havana-style evening out.

The food is great, the mojitos are among KL’s best, and the ambiance is terrific fun. And to ensure a good time, SOULed Out has kept the prices impressively affordable, just RM60 for three mojitos, or RM25 for six of the fun frozen mojito lollies.

We definitely recommend checking out the Latin-themed fun with the Cuban Mojito Corner while it lasts at SOULed Out in Sri Hartamas.
