Black Tap Brings the Heat with Its New Hot Chicken Sandwich

Monkey bread, bagel balls, frozen custard & pizzas by the slice: A made-in-Manhattan fervour rules TTDI’s vibrant new Bowery Petit pizzeria & pastry shop, named by its NYC-loving Malaysian founders after the Lower East Side neighbourhood.
Bowery Petit is poised to open on Saturday, August 29. A preview event this week revealed that patrons can expect a distinctive array of American-associated guilty pleasures, all prepared in-house – soft, cinnamon-sprinkled ‘monkey bread’ pastries, pepperoni-tinged bagel balls, & massive 22-inch pizzas topped with the likes of beef ribs & BBQ sauce, chicken prosciutto, roasted peppers & artichoke hearts, or heirloom tomatoes & fresh basil (RM10.80 – RM15.80 per pizza slice).
The range is tempting – Boston cream pies to pecan pies, cherry lime pop sodas to peanut butter brownie milkshakes. Note that Bowery Petit might seem more of a grab-&-go outlet – there’s sufficient seating here for perhaps 40 patrons, but it’s not a place that’s meant for lingering too long. That component comes next in The Bowery Group’s master plan, with a full-fledged Bowery restaurant expected to open somewhere else in KL next year.
Bowery makes an interesting choice for its coffee, procuring beans from Perth’s Blacklist Coffee Roasters. Currently in the hopper: The Pitch Blend (Brazil + Panama), designed for full-bodied milk-based beverages (flat whites & lattes cost RM10.80).
